Chatting with the experts: Days made of love
Days Made Of Love (DMOL) is a wedding photography duo, comprised of Fanis and Jenny. We discovered their work quite recently, when scrolling though our Instagram feed for some bridal inspiration. Naturally, we instantly fell for their creative images, fantastic scenery and happy wedding memories - so we had to get in touch with them and find out more about their work.
The Veil: Please share a few details about your team! We'd love to know as much as possible about you:
Jenny: DMOL is a wedding photography team made up by my boyfriend and me. Fanis is a photographer, while I've studied fashion design and used to work as a stylist and a writer. I started taking pictures with his camera as an amateur since the beginning of our relationship and he thought I was talented, so we eventually started working together.
The Veil: What is the process when a couple hires you as their wedding photographers?
Jenny: It all starts when the couple contacts us for the first time, usually via e-mail. We require as much information as possible, such as the date and location of the ceremony, the services they may need, the style of their wedding and anything in between! After a few hours, we get back to them with our quotation, so the natural next step is arranging a meeting over coffee or a Skype call. This is a very crucial part, since it gives us the opportunity to meet each other properly, talk through the details and help the couple decide what works best for them.
Some couples do have a list of typical wedding photos on their mind, but it's very important to understand how each photographer works and what images they create. For our team is very important to capture whatever stimulates us. There are some classic wedding pictures we don’t want to miss though!
Our most popular package includes full day coverage (10-12hours) and the final wedding images artistically edited in high resolution, supplied via an online gallery and in a copy USB.
The Veil: Do you currently operate only in Greece? Can couples who live abroad contact and hire you?
Jenny: We are currently based in Greece and we work mainly at the Greek islands. However, we have worked abroad in the past and we love travelling, so we’d love to hear from couples that plan their destination wedding in Europe (and the rest of the world). In addition, every year we put together a travel schedule and we offer a discount for the specific period we are going to be in each place; our plans for 2017 include a trip to Italy so far. We will be spending some days there for the week of April 3-10 and we’d be happy to shoot some weddings and couple sessions.
The Veil: One final point - what is the perfect wedding photoshoot for you? And are there any mistakes to avoid?
Jenny: A well organised event is always a key factor that keeps our brides relaxed during the whole day. We are always fascinated by intimate weddings and couples that put their soul at their wedding, staying true to their style in terms of decorations, wedding attires and locations, thus creating a truly unique celebration. The perfect wedding photo shoot for us also includes epic locations and places we have never been to before.
We are always close to our couples during their planning process and happy to discuss with them and advice on whatever topic we can help with, such as the importance of natural light. I believe the most common mistake for a bride is to get carried away by others’ opinions. Weddings should be a simple celebration of love, and each couple should feel comfortable during their big day.
